FrostClan: A Dark Tomorrow

"If you want better prey you should try actually catching some," Shadowcore meowed, licking prey blood from his face. "You shouldn't be allowed to eat prey while there are warrior starving, anyways." The arrogant tom padded away with his tail up, feeling satisfied with himself.

(I want to stab him in the heart T_T)

"Oh I see, so unless we really need to keep our strength up we always feed the warriors and queens first." Sleetpaw meowed, quickly cleaning her paws and muzzle of blood before getting ready to follow the older hunter. "Ok I'm ready when you are."

"Ok." He meowed, following silently behind. Roguepaw didn't normally have much to say, he'd only been with the clan for a few moons. His name being a reminder that he hadn't been clan born. He was given food and shelter, and in return he was expected to patrol, it was a small price to pay for a home.

Quartzprickle nodded and stood up, stretching out her locked up muscles. "Alright, you finish up and then we'll head onward." Her long clear claws sunk into the tough, dark loam, churning the roots within the dirt to a sharp-scented pulp.

"But....I-I just became a hunter. I don't know how to hunt-" She squeaked in terror and Deltapaw looked away from Shadowcore, her body quivering in fear. Just as she was sure the tom would punish her for being rude, she was surprised to see Hellspire walk up from behind her, a large rounded leaf plastered to his forehead, and stared at Shadowcore, growling,"Don't talk to her like, that, or any cat for that matter or you'll have to answer to me." Looking down at Deltapaw, he hissed,"Don't ever start fights with our clanmates. I don't want to have to kill one just because I promised a worthless kit safety."

Damn hypocrit... Shadowcore thought, walking off. He didn't feel like it was worth it right now to fight over a damn apprentice. He padded into the warrior's den, yawning with pure laziness that can only be acquired with practice.

Dusksoul quickly padded to one side of the training hollow, then pivoted to face Roguepaw. "Get ready, and be sure to remember what you've learned in the last few moons." Dusksoul's purple eyes shone with a heated fever, a barely hidden passion for battle.

"Like I said sis, ready when you are." She meowed, a lopsided grin gracing her features and making her look mischievous. "This is going to be grand!" She purred her fur prickling with excitement.

Roguepaw took a upright heavy stance, the best to use his large size to and faced hie mentor, he was in his element now and he grinned at Dusksoul. "As if I could forget with your non-stop drilling." He meowed, claws digging in and out of the ground.

(Grand is my word for the week.)

Dusksoul grunted heavily, "Whenever you're ready." Dusksoul said, his head tilting to the side a bit, and a taunting tone in his voice.

Quartzprickle gave a brisk nod before trotting away, speed picking up at a quickening pace as she began heading towards the southwestern border where Boulderclan's and Mossclan's territories corner off with Frostclan's. Her paws crunched against the dying leaves of Autumn, her pure white and silver-tinged spiny fur glistening blindingly bright in the sun's setting light.

"She was buried in the furthest part of the territory because of her longing for her travels. She was the kind of soul who couldn't be tied down to one place for long."

Shadderpaw kneaded the moss endearingly, a small purr arising from from deep within his throat as he slept. His tail lashed every couple of moments, and his tiny nose twitched as if something sweet had entered it.

"That would be lovely, to be able to just go where ever you pleased, not that I'd ever abandon the clan, but just for a while. Just travel, even if it was just to the Alleys. What are the Alley-cats like sis?" She asked, padding forward quickly on her still kit soft paws to catch up with Quartzprickle.

Roguepaw stared down his mentor, waiting for the perfect time to strike, he knew in a battle you wouldn't have time to plan, had to account for every change. So when a group of starling took the the sky, shrieking for all the world to hear he leaped forward, going to ram his broad head into his mentors chest.

Quartzprickle only shook her head and muttered,"Yeah...but the clan needs us hunters. As the the Alley cats, I would know. Never been to the alleys, always told she-cat were too weak to leave the territory." Lifting up her head, she drank in the scents, searching for the rich smell of saffron, an exotic herb who's smell had always clung to the traveler. "See if you can track the scent of something odd and sharp, yet somewhat pleasant. Her spirit's scent seems to waft around her burial site."

Cursekit stumbled around in the nursery, tripping over her own paws. The story of The Weasel, the Jewel, and the Hawk had really shooken her up. It all just seemed so...real. Behind her eyes was a shattered soul, quivering from the core. She squaked as she tripped, falling flat on her face.

Sleetpaw jumped up onto a root and opened her mouth to let the scents of the forest wash over her tongue. She turned her head, breathing in deep and searching for anything that was sharper then the normal forest scents. She turned her head a bit. "I'm not sure of the exact direction, but is it south-west?" She asked, making it a question.

Icewing swished forward on dainty paws and picked Cursekit up out of the moss, quickly licking her clean. "Come now dear, be more careful where you tread." She meowed, she herself being careful not to get to much contact with the little she-kit, she'd been there when she had been born.

"H-H-Hi, Icewing," Cursekit stammered, gratitud showing a little in her eyes. She slightly smiled at the small gesture of kindness from the gentle queen, her whiskers twitching slightly. She brushed a pice of moss off of her shoulder. "Have you seen Mangokit and Pinkykit?" She asked, proud for not stuttering for a whole sentence.

Quartzprickle nodded and darted forward, catching the faint scent at once. "This way." Pelt tingling, her long claws dug into the ground as she sprang forward. Her heart rate seemed to speed up at the thought of them getting closer. [i]Finally...we can speak again.[.i]

"They where curled up with their mother after the story sweetling." Icewing meowed, licking moss from her paws. "You should get some rest as well, you've all had too much excitement for one day."

Sleetpaw hurried to catch up, driving her little paws to their limits, determined to keep up with the older she-cat and meet this wandering spirit.

Cureskit nodded, curling up in a random spot. She didn't like sleeping next to the other queens and kits. Nocat could replace her mother, Feralfang.

A small part of the young queen felt unbearably sorry for Cursekit, StarClan ripping her mother away with her birth. But the kit was strange, she had an oddness about her that made Icewing shiver, like there was a dark cloud hovering over the kit.

Quartzprickle clambered down a bit of a steep hill, the moon peeking over its edge and the sky dimming from the faded orange, pinks, and reds to a cooler blue, purple, and indigo. The soft breeze blew over them and Northstar, leader of all Starclan, appeared from behind the haze, twinkling brightly for his clanmates to shine forth.

As she neared the bottom, there lay an earthen treasure. Standing before her was a crumbled tree that grew in a coil, its trunk like a snake that was squeezing the life out of its prey. A work of nature, some called it. Blackish blue and deep violet blossoms sprouted from within the tree, whose leave glittered a dark ivy color, almost blue with shadows. Standing in the center of the gnarled mess was clear crystal jutting from the rich, dark loam, in with ancient runes slashes scratched into its surface. That's right. This was a gift from Crystalclan for slaying that Falcon. The she-cat's eyes glittered at the site.

"You see...you can only truly be taken in by the scene at night."

Mintpaw made it to the nursery and stuck his head in and noticed that everyone was asleep, and there was nothing to do. He went back to the woods to find some borage leaves, for Fallenshadow would need them to produce better milk when she kitted.

"Oh, oh wow. That's grand, fantastic." Sleetpaw purred, slinking forward to stand next to Quartzprickle. "No one has ever spoke about this, it's beautiful." She purred taking a careful step closer and giving an experimental sniff. It smelt spicy and exotic, but in a very good way.

Quartzprickle's fur spiked up even more at the sight of the grave, it being almost five whole season cycles since she last saw it. "Ye-yeah. It is lovely, isn't it. After calming herself, she continued,"Not many will ever see this place, let aloe talk about it. To warriors, it is shameful to seek out advice from one other than Starclan, especially if its from a wandering soul like Soulthunder. Though it isn't against the warrio- I mean Clan Code." Drinking in the scents slowly, she stepped forward till she stood before the crystal tombstone, dipping her head forward until her nose nearly touched the cold, smooth surface. Beckoning Sleetpaw with her tail, she pressed her nose to the clear stone, shutting her eyes.

Vieledmist yawned as he awoke, stretching his legs lazily. He gazed out of the warriors' den, staring into the blackness of the night. He enjoyed the cool breeze that ruffled his fur as he padded slowly out of the den. The shaggy, gray tom drank in the sweet scents of darkness, his gaze shifting to watch the stars twinkle. The large warrior was swallowed by the forest as he slowly padded into the dense undergrowth.

Dusksoul was no novice to battle, and he was impressed when Roguepaw used the starling call as a distraction to attack. Still, Dusksoul was no fool and such a straightforward attack, he easily dodged. A quick sidestep, and then a pivot allowed Dusksoul to raise up a fore paw, in order to brush it against Roguepaw's pelt as he passed. He would go on the defensive this time, allowing the apprentice to try several different attack methods.
