In the beginning- the far, far beginning, there was war. Blood colored the lands and lost fur filled the air, making it thick and chocking. Vile scents of various wayward and tangled borders of countless cats sullied and soured the atmosphere with their attempted claims at the land, and all which could be considered Hell was afoot.

She-cats and kittens alike were stoles away during group raids, and slaughter and sex was on the mind of all toms. Steal and rule- t'was the way of life and how to rise high above all others. To become king of the lands was the fruitful dream of all.

This continued until there came a day where a wild youth rose against this law of the land and tore it down. Only alive at blooming moon of ten, and this gallant cat surpassed those who opposed him and took all as his mates, it has been said. Taken from all others, the she-cats were his, and yet, they weren't. All he sent away to have their own freedom and protection for each, the youth granted them. Five of these queens, however, carried such great admiration for the vigilant youth and pronounced their appreciation and desire to further serve the tom. He did not decline.

Instead, the tom took the five on as his mates and named them his greater partners in life. Each where to establish and rule a coven which would all live as his extended family and protect their kinmates from those who rejected him.

Born from those five queens were five clans. And each was granted the name of their respected mother.

Feather. Ember. Berry. Terra. Shine.

Now these five clans all supported and held their father in the highest regards, and the youth was truly a king.

And in his long life, the tom made a list of rules which, though it has gone through many series of change, has ultimately remained the same at the core. And with these rules, he created a culture for bonding and togetherness that even the power of all five clans could not hinder and break. A gathering of all five would occur under the light of the brightest moon, and a five families would exchange members to ensure the spread of blood and talents and loyalties to ensure that no one clan would surpass the others.

These nights of the full moon were dubbed thus; the Moon of the Mateships. In time, this has been redubbed the Moon of Mates, but the same premise applied and none objected. And how it continued was in peace.

Be Kind- Rewind.

Please be nice to everyone in general. After all, if you do something bad, you really can't take it back and undo the damage inflicted. ... Thus, if you have been banned, you shall remain that way.

Relationships -
Though not the entirety of what the story entails, the idea of mateship does play a rather grandiose portion in the mechanisms of the universe in which our story takes place, as well as affects greatly the characters and how they interact. Thus, there will need to be points made public and even a few limitations set in order to regulate all the moving parts of this (hopefully) well-oiled machine.

Firstly, one must have some understanding of the depth of this world. Star-Crossed Destinies is meant to simulate a grand scape similar to the world in which we humans live today- there are countless people with ideals and values that maybe we don't personally understand, but out of the goodness of ourselves, we respect. The world of SCD is a rather taboo one, filled with that which may not be often accepted among other RP groups as some instances may appear too "real" for a fantastical world about self-aware cats. However, from this decision, we wish to enable the world to feel truly real. We hope that this does not deter members from joining, but rather opens up a variety of choices for characters to choose from without feeling limited or forcibly repressed by a higher power. Now, onward to the actual important stuff!

Because of the fact that many cats throughout the generations were received from a cattery, and thus purebred in breed, the idea of generalized inbreeding has been a theme in the story for many years. This has yet to change. So, the fact of the matter is that incest can and will exist within the group. However, limits WILL be set. While this is a common issue among wild cats in the real world, it will be monitored among the group for regulatory purposes.

The most common forms allowed will be distant-relation mateships. These are those who may have had related members in their family trees. This can span from a shared third-cousin, to a greatgrand niece or nephew. If a pair of cats have crossing bloodlines, but it is thin enough that offspring would not be altered, then the relationships is fine and can continue without worry.

More severely regulated couples will be those of closer relations, such as siblings or those with tighter blood ties. Although such relations have happened before, they are extremely uncommon and minimum requirements will be enacted upon the couple for them to remain together. Firstly, they must have an extremely close bond which can be backed up by not only the characters' two members, but by other members of the group. Also, they cannot procreate together. If an incestuous couple wish to have their own offspring, they must seek a surrogate partner to assist them. The couple must

Star-Crosses Destinies History:

In the beginning- the far, far beginning, there was war. Blood colored the lands and lost fur filled the air, making it thick and chocking. Vile scents of various wayward and tangled borders of countless cats sullied and soured the atmosphere with their attempted claims at the land, and all which could be considered Hell was afoot.

She-cats and kittens alike were stolen away during group raids, and slaughter and sex was on the mind of all toms. Steal and rule- t'was the way of life and how to rise high above all others. To become king of the lands was the fruitful dream of all.

This continued until there came a day where a wild youth rose up against this law of the land and tore it down. Only alive at the blooming moon of ten, and this gallant cat surpassed those who opposed him and took all as his mates, it has been said.

Instead, the tom took the five on as his mates and named them his greatest partners in life. Each were to establish and rule a coven which would all live as his extended family and protect their kinmates from those who rejected him.

A gathering of all five would occur under the light of the brightest moon, and the five families would exchange members to arrange the spread of blood, talents, and loyalties to ensure that no one clan would surpass the others.

These nights of the full moon were dubbed thus; the Highmoon of the Mateships. In time, it had been redubbed the Moon of Mates, but the same premise applied and none objected. And how it continued was in peace.
The most recent occurrences of the clans where history was ultimately changed was within the last fifty or so moons.

Under the guidance of five strong leaders of Featherclan, Emberclan, Berryclan, Terraclan, and Shineclan, the peace was shattered and the land thrown into chaos.

The well-respected power couple of Featherclan, the supposedly valiant leader Cherrystar and his powerful mate and deputy, Leopardfury, churned the waters of fate. Opposing the neutral Berryclan, the leader stole away Meteorstar, leader of the flower clan and claimed her as his mate under the guise of her mateship towards another, though his true intention was to bestow her as a gift towards his own mate. Such was the first rule broken.

When Berryclan fell into ruin from Starclan's lack of answers in who to now guide them, Berryclan parted as the clan fought it's own civil war between those who believed that the current deputy was to take over and those who sides with the ancient ancestors who declined Yellowmoon as leader.

While fighting amongst themselves, Berryclan remained oblivious to the worse war being started as a collection of rogues began appearing in the lands and causing all sorts of mischief. And the deaths then began to occur.

Initially, in Featherclan on the night of a full moon, an apprentice was found dead and the littermate of Splatterstar, the Emberclan leader, was blamed. The accusation was denied, but the bonds of trust between Featherclan and their rival Emberclan had already been torn. Outbreaks of fights occurred between the two regularly, and more deaths appeared in those and other instances, leaving all clans bewildered.

In this madness, Shineclan lost both their leader and deputy, and while they found suitable replacements for both in the forms of Paintedstar and Softfrost, their weakened state made them recede into the shadows and only emerge for the full moon summonings.

The only clan not to see any death amongst their numbers was Terraclan and many believed them to be the killers. Shineclan, their sister clan, didn't believe this openly like the other clans, but remained far from the clan they bordered with.

However, despite the accusations, Terraclan never left their territory. Having her younger halfbrother killed in Featherclan as an Emberclan apprentice, Flashstar snapped and supposedly lost her sanity in the fear of losing more cats close to her. The formerly strong and reckless Terraclan leader remained holed up in her den and would only allow her clanmates to even leave the camp in patrols of six or more members under the leadership of her deputy, Sandrazor, and refused to appear at the Gatherings when others would. However, her clan grew restless and left her one night to appear at the next Gathering after having missed two consecutive times. This was a fatal mistake.

T'was the night of the bloodiest hour. It was during this meeting of truce and trust that the leader of Featherclan showed his true colors when he guided not the rogues, who had been appearing, but stray warriors from Emberclan and Featherclan and a massive amount of cats whose scents hadn't yet been smelled before. Cherrystar carried out a massive slaughter and the end of the clans was just about in the grasp of the warrior who wanted to be king.

To the clans' aid, though, came the group of loners whose scents had been caught around the territories, and to all cats' surprise, they knew that Cherrystar was behind the original killings and we're plotting to oppose him. These clan cats believed and trusted these loners because instead of strangers, they were purely cats that Cherrystar had targeted, but survived, and were thought to be dead. Among them were the former leader of Shineclan, Snowstar, as well as warriors from all other clans.

With the aid of the supposedly dead cats, those few who remained alive in the clans took chase of Cherrystar and Leopardfury as the two had fled once those Cherrystar had directed had either died or taken off.

In a spot along the edge of Terraclan resided a steep ravine where the cats cornered the pair, but to the surprise and joy of all, Leopardfury had been plotting against Cherrystar herself, to which Snowstar knew of beforehand. What they hadn't expected was what Cherrystar did next.

In his fear of losing power, the massive albino took his own leave by grabbing Leopardfury, his pride and joy in life and mother to his many kits, and ripped her off the side of the cliff with himself and the two were killed upon impact. The fall was hard enough to take all remaining lives of Cherrystar and the remaining cats gaped in horror and sorrow at how fragile a cat's life turned out to be as two of the strongest cats in the history of the clans both had died from such a simple situation.

Mournful, the cats returned to their respected clans and attempted to return to life as usual. But without many of their able warriors and even queens, the clans felt doomed to become extinct. It was then which the Emberclan medicine cat by the name of Strawberry came with an idea blessed by Starclan and spoke of recruiting cats from the Twoleg neighborhood and cattery within the area, from which the medicine cat herself had originated. The clans, including Terraclan, agreed and thus began the restoration of all five clans, gathering numbers in the forms of kittypets, strays, and cats broken free from their enclosures in the cattery.
