Cold Blades of Truth (A Percy Jackson RP)

Katrina laid Chase down on the cot beside it and left, wondering how the two would fare. She quickly shrugged it off and went to watch a volleyball game, calling tips to both sides randomly. Sometimes they would work, and other times it would cause the other team to gain a point. Sometimes the players didn't listen. She never made it clear which side she was rooting for, however.

Aaron watched the girl shoot the arrow, with a scowl on his face. He watched the arrow fly, and might have been impressed by the newbie, if it wasn't for him already in awe of the shadow powers. He had to admit, it seemed really freaking cool. He wished he had cool powers. Posiedon kids could control water, Zeus kids could control the winds, and thunder or something. What did he get? Big deal, he could sing to heal people. That wasn't as cool as....shadow powers.

(( So...monsters on the border of camp? Wha'dya say? ))

(Why the hell not? I'm always itching for a battle.)

Katrina glanced towards the camp's entrance-still gaurded by a magic tree-but her eyes soon flitted back to the volleyball game. She though she'd heard something.

(Cyclopse, evil centaur, other greek monster? I'm game for anything...Hm....We should involve the Romans in this one. Wasn't that your idea, DN? The Mark of Athena just came out...)

(Roman harpies are good. I know Roman Zues is Jupiter, Hades is Pluto, Posiedon is Neptune, Hera is Juno, and Athena is Minerva in case we need that...After that I'm blank.
And, yes, you should definately read the Mark of Athena.)

a glimpse of red feathers flitted between the branches of the trees, and a high-pitched squeal-like shriek came from the forest just in front of where the camp's barriers started.
(That's there. Help me here; there are three or something.)

The shriek was accompanied by another, and a hissing screech of "Foul Demi-gods!" The sound rang clear through the camp.

(GOW was a bitch about it and wouldn't let me read it first even though he's really slow. I stole it while he was asleep and read about 70 pages, though. It's epic.)

Katrina's hand was immediatly on her sword as she saw three shapes fly into camp with scowls on their faces. How did they get through the borders? she wondered, but didn't think much after that. She drew Rising Sun and tensed, waiting for them to attack.

One of the harpies, with light blue feathers and sharp teeth, hissed an incomprehensible curse in latin. She flew behind of, and a bit to the right of, the red-feathered harpy. All three were hostile in posture and soon set their sight on the first camper they noticed: Aaron.

(Sorry for being late to the party- we went for a bit of a drive ~.~')

Sheba blinked in surprise at the screeching creatures, slowly pulling the arrow out of the target, her grey eyes never leaving the flapping, feathered monsters. Harpies?! In....camp?! She wondered what to do, but before she could think, her arm arched out and shadows sent the arrow flying straight into a wing of one of the harpies, Sheba jumping at the crunching sound of bone it made without her even realizing it. "Oops...."

Aaron stared at flying birds. Head cocked, then he seemed to realize they were rushing right at him and started to fumble with pulling an arrow out of the ground in front of him. He heard a dull crunch, but didn't stop to see what it was. He picked up the arrow, set it against the string of his bow and drew. But the harpies were moving, and was hard to get a target. He saw an arrow already sticking out of one of their wings. They were close now, he hesitated before he released the arrow, targeting the foremost one, but it seemed certain the harpy would dodge.

Shuda who had been walking towards his cabins, cursed loudly at the sight of the monsters. He started to reach over his shoulder for his battle-axe before he realized it was still in his cabin. He swore, as he searced for a weapon. His eyes settled on the hammer at his belt, he deftly took it out, scowling. It was good-sized but he still didn't want to use it in battle. It was a smith's hammer, with Hephaestus's flame symbol on the side of the double-hammer. He rushed towards the feathery monsters, his blood already boiling.

The blue-feathered harpy-the one Sheba had shot-careened sideways and plummeted to the ground. It quickly recovered, tucking its broken wing as best it could. On two spindly legs, it darted towards the attackers, shrieking and hissing in rage, pain, and fear. Its eyes glowed with an intense hatred.

The red-feathered harpy swerved and winced as the tip of Aaron's arrow grazed its feathers. It did no real damage, however. She dive-bombed the child of Appolo.

Katrina, after getting over her initial shock, rushed towards the direction of the harpies. She targeted the one on the ground, hoping the other two-one with feathers of crimson, and one with feathers yellow as the sun-would be shot down.

The Mark of Athena is freaking epic. I read it. And had it signed by Rick. And got a Camp Half-Blood shirt. I was about to die of excitement.))

Luna's bright eyes were wide with shock. The harpy's shrieks had immeadiately caught her attention, and she now moved toward the attackers with her sword - which she was rarely seen without anymore - ready. Before she'd gotten close enough to strike, she stretched out her free hand to release one of her powers, which she'd gotten better at controlling without passing out. The ground trembled barely noticably. Then a deep crack opened directly underneath and in front of the injured harpy on the ground. Without the use of its wing, it'd have to be one quick harpy to get out of that.

Priscilla whipped out her spear in the blink of an eye, just as a yellow-feathered harpie swooped overhead. Priscilla looked fierce, yet graceful as she whacked the hell out of the passing harpie. The harpie got knocked out of bounds, crashing into a nearby tree. As other harpies swooped by, Priscilla thrust her spear into the Earth, causing the sky to rumble, as crisp, blue lighting tumbled down. "URRRRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!" Priscilla screamed as the power surged through her. The lightning bounced around violently until it hit a group of harpies, turning them into yellow dust.

With a final shriek they did dissolve; only the red harpie was left, having avoided the blow. She was obviously the strongest of the three. Her fierce cry pierced the air as Katrina's sword sliced her thin-fleshed arm, creating a thin line of torn flesh.
"What is with these things?!" Katrina asked, backing up with harpie's claws just inches from her face. She hacked again with her sword.

Aaron froze up as one of the harpies dive-bombed towards him, he knew he should shoot an arrow. He was telling himself to, there was no way he could miss from this range. But his body wasn't responding, and that brief second of hesitation was all the monster needed to descend on his face, screeching and hissing, leaving long jagged scratches and wounds on his face. He shouted as he bashed at it with a bow, no sooner had he smacked it away then something hit it, and it fell to the ground in yellow dust. Aaron didn't see what, red was filling his eyes as blood poured down from the gashes, some slipping over his lips, the horrible taste filling his mouth. His face was a gory mess.

Shuda wasn't even close to the battle, it all happened too quickly. Before he knew it, two harpies had been obliterated. A third looked injured. He was only a few yards away when he threw his hammer. It flew threw the air, catching the harpy full force on the wing, the heavy object surely breaking some bones below the feathers.

Another shriek accopmanied the air as the hammer struck. One wing lay crumpled, attached still to the harpies back, but unable to move. The other was tucked protectively behind the sharp-fagned blood-thirsty creature's back. In danger, it became even more feral than usual. Striking out, its claws caught Katrina's shoulder, leaving a deep, painful gash. Almost immediatly after a sharp intake of breath signified the camper's reaction to the pain. The smug smile on the harpie's lips did not last long, for its head was just as soon lopped of by a swinging blade. It was reduced to naught more than yellow dust.
Katrina's arm hung limp at her side; it pained for her to move it.

As Shuda's hammer crushed the final harpie's wing, Sheba thrust out her arms and she swiftly guided her own shadow towards the horrifying creature, the darkness on the ground rising up into spikes to gouge through the creature's body, mainly its wings and lower torso. Her eyes blink, and with a flash of gray, the spine exploded into a spray of stinging needles, a cheeky grin scrawling onto her face.

(Fuck me and my long time to type >.> Just ignore my post...)

Aarons hands covered his face, blood mixed with pained tears occasionally trickling through the gaps in his fingers. Pained sobs wracked his body, as he whined "Help me." with shuddering breaths. Blood had started trickling down his chin, some had reached his orange camp half-blood tshirt and some red splotches were mixed into his long blonde hair.

Shuda paused for a second, before he started acting. Most campers seemed dazed to him, that seemed weird to him. Before he realized that most of them had never actually been in many fights with monsters, as they had spent most of their lives in camp, now they had experienced a monster encounter, and that too-in camp. He leaped into action, yelling out orders. First he picked up his hammer and tucked in his belt before he started to tell people to get the injured to Chiron. The only two injured he spotted were Katrina and Aaron. Katrina being far closer. He put her hand on her shoulder turning her towards Chiron's cabin. "Can you make it?"

Sheba ran over to Aaron without thinking, a wave of panic rushing over her. Compared to the size of the boy, Sheba was positively too small to carry him all the way to the infirmary, but Caillen wasn't. With a quick snap, the shadowy steed that ran in the last chariot race appeared from beneath Aaron, and with Sheba to guide her, the two hurried away without a second glance to Shuda, Priscilla, or Katrina.

"Totally, it's not that bad." Katrina's teeth were clenched and she grimaced as her arm was slightly jarred. The gash was deep and jagged; blood trickled down the side of her arm in a continuously, rythmatic stream. She trudged towards Chiron's cabin, a little shaky, but able. With her good arm, she sheathed her sword.

Luna watched Sheba's and Caillen's progress, then Katrina. She lowered her blade, not sure whether she should be glad or disappointed to not have the chance to use the Stygian sword. She was glad, though, that she didn't feel at all dizzy from creating the crack. Which reminded her - with a quick gesture toward it, the fissure sealed, barely leaving a visible sign of its presence.

Aaron felt something rise up under him, a strange feeling and before he knew it, his feet was being lifted off the ground, he thought he could feel something between his legs. But he was too scared too open his eyes, with searing pain on his face as if someone had stuck a hundred daggers hilt-deep into him over and over again. He let out a small yelp when he started moving forward, he felt his balance get rickety and with a loud thump he fell off the shadow beast and onto his back on the ground. he let out a muffled cry as he curled into a little ball.

"Suuure." Shuda said, giving her a light push towards Chiron's cabin. He turned away in time to watch Aaron fall off the shadow horse.

"Oh crap!" Sheba ran over to help Aaron up and growled, though in frustration at herself,"Oh man, what have you been eating? Or am I just that weak?!" She stifled a strained chuckle before lift up the Apollo boy with all her might, but to her surprise, Caillen had enough brains to lower her shadowy head for the injured camper to grab a hold of. "Easy now, easy."

Aaron however was unwilling to uncurl from his little ball. His hands pressed tight against his face, as he continued sobbing.

Giving a sharp sigh, grunting, and releasing her grip on the older boy, she looked over to Shuda and yelled," Hey, mind if you give me a hand lifting up this crybaby over here?! I'm a bit too.....well, small." Wiping away the sweat on her face from her strained attempt to help up Aaron, she waited for her 'friend's reply. She called him her friend, but since the last journey, they really hadn't spoken much to each other.

Shuda had already been walking over, but at her call he quickened his pace. "No prob." He said as he approached. He gave the shadow horse a pat on the neck, before he crouched down by Sheba. He whistled in surprise, at the sight of the blood covering Aaron's hands and evident under them. "Doesn't look good." He said, as he reached to pick Aaron up, he tried prying open the boys arms so he could do a firemans carry, but the boy wouldn't relent. With a defeated sigh, he just scooped him up and slung him over one shoulder with only a bit of difficulty. He easily weighed a hundred more pounds than Aaron. Jokingly though, he said "What has this guy been eating?" He started on his way to Chiron's in a brisk walk.

Aarons felt hands on him and he could hear voices but he wasn't sure what they were saying or why he was being touched. Before he could comprehend he felt himself lifted into the air, a tight grip around him. He let out a choked sob as his body was jolted, but otherwise gave in to whatever was happening to him.
