Thornpaw's Day Off

Thornpaw was struck by the blow. He skidded several paces, similarly bleeding from his cheek like the she-cat. He retreated several steps, crouching down then he ran at her. He quickly built up speed then was just a blur he feigned to her left, then to her right, then to her left, than ran to her right. His fore-paw came up and prodded her in the ribs with unsheathed claw.s The first move in the combination Spiritsong had taught him.

Copper jerked backwards at the sudden pain in her ribs, she made a strangled screeching noise as she did so.

Mercury leaned down to get a better look, ahh now she remembered! It was the forest cat from last night. Why had he come here? And what move had he just used on her sister?

Thornpaw's hind leg lashed out at her hindleg's knee. He didn't hold back, wanting to make her fall.

Copper fell to the ground, the other cats gave gasps of surprise at this. They made them selves ready to leap at the tom.

Mercury gave a choking noise, which disappeared into the falling snow. She clenched her jaw and readied her self to go to her sisters aid.

Thornpaw had her pinned down. His two fore paw's on her chest and one hindpaw on her ribs. He kept one hindpaw on the ground, keeping most of his weight on that and occasional transferring more of his weight to his other legs softly prodding her. He didn't use his full weight, just in case these cats weren't his enemies. He also had his claw's sheathed, except for one forepaw.

Copper was panting, she'd let herself get caught off guard, this was terrible! The other cats growled and got read to spring, simple waiting for the leaders signal.... there a tail twitch and an ear flick.....

..... Mercury jumped down from the buildings, graceful, and annoyed. "Stop this at once!" She ordered, the other cats look confused and glanced at the large tom. He growled. "Mercury! you have no right to interfere!" He snapped. "And you've no right to kill a cat for defending themselves Jester!" She retorted, her cool gaze suddenly fiery.

(One more post after this then I'll go to bed.)

Thornpaw blinked at Mercury's sudden appearance. He wasn't quite sure, what was going on. But from what he could gather, these cats were part of Mercury's group. It was obvious they wanted to kill him, though. He growled not letting down his guard.

(it's 1:33 in the morning. )

Mercury and Jester had a stare off until Jester asked an important question. "Can we trust him? He could be a spy!"
"He is of FrostClan, and he is my friend, he can be trusted." Mercury said, she barely knew Thornpaw, in fact she didn't even know his name, but it would help, no one harmed a friend of a Talon, especially one from Frostclan.
".... Stand down." Jester ordered. The other cats sheathed their claws and let their muscles relax.
Mercury turned to Thornpaw. "Would you please let my sister up?" She asked, her gaze cool and even once more.

((Good night))

Thornpaw blinked, "...Your sister?" he said softly. He looked down at copper. He sheathed his claws, as he stepped off of her.

Copper stumbled to her paws and glared at Thornpaw. Mercury swiped her tongue over Coppers bleeding cheek. "¿Estás bien?" She asked, concern in her eyes
"Sí, estoy bien" Copper replied, her eyes softening, it was clear the sisters cared about each other. Mercury sighed and nudged her sister towards Jester. "You all continue your patrol, I will stay with him." Mercury said. The Alley-cats looked at each other then nodded, they padded away, disappearing into the Alleys.

Thornpaw flicked his ears at the strange language. He glanced at Mercury with a quizzical expression on his face as the other cats left.

Mercury sighed then turned to Thornpaw. "Why did you come here?" She asked, her words were gentle but there was steel in her gaze. The snow fell gently around them, obscuring her form so she seemed to flit in and out of focus.

Thornpaw brushed his tail, across the ground. "I'm not sure myself," he answered "I was ... curious about this 'jungle', your queen and the Raven."

"She is not my queen!" Mercury spat. The she-cat shook herself. "Your curiosity nearly got you killed! You were lucky I was nearby. If I had not heard the battle you would be feeding the carrion birds!" She meowed, her fur ruffled. She gritted her teeth. "Did anyone see you enter the Alleys?" She asked.

"I can take care of myself." Thornpaw harrumphed. He rolled his eyes at Mercury as he said "Some annoying old tom."

"Joder!" Mercury swore, at least it sounded like a swear. "Follow me, and for the love of the ancestors keep UP!" She said and bounded for the nearest wall. She climbed swiftly up a pipe and looked down at Thornpaw. "Hurry up Clan cat!" She called.

Thornpaw glanced form the ground to the pipe to the annoying she-cat then repeated the process. Sucking in a deep breath he took a few steps back and started running. He leaped towards he pipe, covering a few tail-lengths and climbed up it. It wasn't too much different form climbing a tree.

(this is kind of like those games where to have to follow the npc over the roof's)

Mercury took a step back so he could get to the top of the roof. "We must make haste." She meowed. "It sounds as if one of The Rogue Queens spies as seen you. This area is no longer safe." Halfway through the sentence she had started running again. She dashed across the roof and took a running jump at the next one. Her claws gripped the edge of a protruding wooden beam and she pulled herself up.

Thornpaw grumbled something as he raced after her. "Who is the-," he paused as he pulled himself onto the wooden beam "the rogue queen?" he panted.

"Nobody knows." Mercury meowed as she jumped from the roof into another Alley. "She came many summers ago, after the death of the Great Paw. She took much territory, very quickly." She meowed. "She always looking for more territory."

"Greedy she-cat." Thornpaw muttered, as he quickly followed. He jumped onto the next roof and asked "Who's the great paw?"

(( Sleepy. Its a bit past midnight here. Going to sleep. Will try to be on early ))

"Leader of the Free Cats, He owned all the Alleys. He and his gang made sure the other gangs did not fight much, still fight but not badly. Time of peace under his rule. Now the Free Cats are gone and all gangs absorbed into The Rogue Queen's." She meowed. She waited for him by a hole in a brick wall. "Safe-Nest through here." She meowed. "... Not so safe anymore, we must tell the cats inside to move."

Thornpaw nodded, he had more questions but he held them in, for now. He flicked his tail at the hole "You go first."

Mercury nodded, her slim form easily slipping through the hole and out the other side. "Come quickly." She meowed from the other side, her voice was somewhat muffled by the wall.

Thornpaw followed her though the hole, her tail almost in his mouth. He arrived on the other side and said "Lead the way."
