Thornpaw's Day Off

Ice quickly padded after Copper, though he kept looking between the Clan cats. Frostclan...?

Trinity nodded.

Ivypaw looked at Ice. "Sorry....maybe later when....." she tilted her head to Pandora. "....she's not around.", she whispered.

Pandora scratched her claws against the ground in play, and it made a loud sound. She then got up. "Well, it's been nice... Trinity, right? From what I've deduced, you can't find a friend, right? She did say 'Mercury,' then she said, 'lost friend.' So yeah. Bye." She climbed up to follow the other, this little display being a small portion of her wits. Eragorn and Ryan followed quickly.

Copper stopped at a small crossroad. "This is where Mercury was last seen, after this, she just disappeared." Copper meowed. She sat down. "I thought by coming here we could get a better sense of what happened. It hasn't snowed since she disappeared so maybe..."

"Right. Ryan, go... sniff it." Pandor called as she trotted towards the cats, and he jumped over to the crossroads, sniffing deeply. Pandora and Eragorn did the same.

"Mm, minty." Eragorn almost drooled.

Thornpaw jumped down from the roof, landing lightly by Copper.

Ice nodded at Ivypaw and smiled again, though there was still some disappointment in his eyes. Her hurried forward, then leaped down and landed lightly on Copper's other side.

Copper sniffed around, if she could just find somethi- aha there, a tuft of fur caught in a pile of wood. "She must have climbed over this." Copper meowed.

Ice padded up beside her and lightly sniffed the tuft of fur. "Think we'll be able to track her down?" he wondered.

"We must find her. I will not lose another sibling to this battle." She meowed she carefully sniffed the fur then raised her head to the sky. She drew the night air into her mouth. "...hmm. I think I have something."

"I don't want to lose any more cats either," Ice sighed quietly. His ears then pricked up with excitement. "You do? Excelent!"

Thornpaw padded closer, silently. He leaned down to sniff the fur as well.

"It's faint.. but yes I scent her." Copper meowed, faint also was her hope. But you could see it glimmering in her eyes. "Come on, we have to move fast so we don't lose it." The she cat took off, following the faint trail.

Thornpaw was on her heels, following her closely. He scented Mercury on the fur as well, and could identify the trail as well, though it seemed to be even weaker for him, then for Copper.

Ice swiftly followed Copper. He easily kept pace with her, and occasionally glanced at Thornpaw and Ivypaw as before.

Copper stopped for a moment. "Damn I lost it. Thornpaw can you scent anything? Ice?" She turned to the toms. She locked down her emotions carefully.

(Should they?)

Ice narrowed his eyes slightly and took a deep breath of the cool air, drawing in the scents around him.

Thornpaw rose his snout to the air and sniffed.

(on my phone. Sorry for the short posts) Jewelpaw reached an odd clear where many different scents lingered. Scents of Ivypaw, Thornpaw, and the scent Thornpaw carried when he returned from the alleys. The scents disappeared over an odd wall which made her bright pelt tingle with both fear and amazment. Noises rustled behind her, bur she was too enthralled by the weird stone wall.

Copper kept her nose in the air, trying desperately to pick up her sisters scent.

Hawkpaw was following Jewelpaw, he would have left it alone but Shinepaw had practically begged him, well ordered him was more like it.

(Okay.)

Ice closed his eyes in concentration. After a few moments, they snapped open. "I got it," he announced, "but it's faint."

Thornpaw nodded, he could barley detect the scent, and pointed down a narrow side alley with one paw. "That way."

Ice nodded in agreement. "Yep, that way." He padded forward ahead of the others; he didn't want them to lose the scent again. Next time, they may not be able to find it.

Thornpaw followed Ice, with a flick of his tail.

Copper sighed with relief as she caught onto what they had scented. The thing was, they were headed into resistance territory, how could Mercury have disappeared into her own home?
