Thornpaw's Day Off

Ivypaw scampered away and ran right into Ice. "I'm sorry.", she said quickly. She turned and saw Thornpaw. "Oh my, are you okay?"

Ice jumped a little, but then meowed kindly, "Don't worry about it."

Thornpaw grunted "i'm fine."

Ivypaw snorted, playfully. "I'm not, I started to retch because of some stinky cat.", she mewed. "Do you guys smell it, or am I just crazy?"

Ice's eyes narrowed further. "You are not fine." His usual friendly tone wavered a little. "If you keep wandering around like this without having that injury treated first, you'll end up dying! Do you have any idea what diseases you can get here in the alleys?" With a quick glance at Ivy, he added, "No, it's not just you."

Mercury padded forward and dropped her rats. "Thornpaw what happened? Oh never mind let Ice help you, Ivypaw can carry that possum." She meowed.

"Mercury, where are the herbs around here?" Ice asked quickly. "I don't have anything to treat him with."

She thought for a moment. "Ivypaw you and Thornpaw go back to the Pelt family with the prey. I'll take Ice to the herbs." She nudged the rats towards the she-cat. "This is important so no arguing ok? Good. Lets go Ice" She meowed.

Ivypaw glanced at the torn open animals. "Okay. Ugghh.", she said as she picked up the possum. "Nice kill Thornpaw.", she mewed. "You really uhh....wanted it huh?

Mercury nodded. "Ivypaw if he starts to look worse then he already is make him sit and rest." She meowed. She lead Ice away. "The greenhouse is just over there." She pointed with her tail, a shiny glass roof could be seen above the fences.

Ice nodded and sped up. "Will there be everything I need there?" he wondered aloud.

Rancidtooth trotted away, his gnarled tail twitching psycotically. Leaping up a fence into a narrow alleyway, he disappeared though the stick still hung around.

Jewelpaw glanced over to Hawkpaw, wondering what the tabby tom was thinking. Not able to see his thoughts, she turned and looked at Smolderstar, unsure how the clan would get on without him. Does he regret joining us on this adventure? Her face looked troubled as she remembered being a kit, curled up asleep by Hawk-kit and how Smolderstar had freaked out.

Thornpaw opened his mouth, ready with a snappy reply. But things seemed to move too fast, and in a blur Ice and Mercury were gone. Thornpaw muttered something about them treating him like a kit as he stooped down to pick up the two rats.

Ivypaw glanced at Thornpaw. "Well you seem bitter......", she said, jokingly.

Thornpaw rolled his eyes as he started padding back towards the Pelt family box camp. He limped sourly and the pace was slow, with each step his wound getting jostled and more blood leaking down it.

"Hey, you need to rest....And don't you even say anything rude.", Ivypaw demanded.

Thornpaw wouldn't have said anything at all but just to annoy Ivypaw he said "Shut up." Thornpaw padded on towards the Pelt family.

"Go ahead, keep walking.......you think you're so cool? You won't be thinking that when you're dead.", Ivypaw snorted. She chuckled to herself about how foolish and self asorbed Thornpaw was.

Thornpaw was hurt sure, but he had faced worst injuries in the past. For now there were starving cats waiting for food, that he had to take to them. He couldn't believe how lazy and self-ish Ivypaw was, she was just sitting there with his kill acting like she was better then him.

(Ivypaw has been following Thornpaw.....sorry if I forgot to put that )

Ivypaw narrowed her eyes. "I'll bring the prey....you need to rest, you fool!! I'm just trying to help, but NO, Thornpaw's too stupid to realize how rude he is to everyone. Your life is most likey bad, but that doesn't mean you need to ruin other cats lives. Everyone has a sob story! I don't know yours, but most cats have it really bad. You should be happy to be alive. If a cat dies, they want their family to keep on living and enjoy life. So why are you such a bastard, only caring about yourself? And I have NO pity for you AT ALL!!", she spat.

Thornpaw just kept padding along, ignoring Ivypaw. She was being stupid, she was already carrying an opossum, that was bigger then her, and probably weighed just as much. He didn't see how she could carry an opossum and two rats. Besides that, he didn't care what she thought of him. He didn't care what she said. He was just doing what he wanted to, and she couldn't change that, or stop him. And anyways, he didn't think he had the energy to talk, or bother thinking up a reply. Once they got back to the Pelt family, he would just lie down and nap.

The flare in Ivypaw's eyes faded and she felt bad for what she had said. Should I apologize? No. It's not like he cares anyway. I'm just another rat in the pile of rancid prey to him. Self asorbed bastard...... Ivypaw couldn't wait to get back to the Pelt family so she could get away from Thornpaw.

After a few silent minutes the Frostclan duo arrived at the Pelt family camp. Cats smelled the prey and a few of the stronger cats came over excitedly. Thornpaw dropped one rat at the young cats feet. Then dragged the other one over to the ragged elders. Thornpaw then silently padded over to an empty corner, and sat down. He started licking his fur, cleaning away some of the blood.

Ivypaw dropped the opposm in front of a couple sickly cats.

Trinity padded over to Thornpaw. "Hmmm....looks like you got into a little match with an opposm, yes?", she said cooly.

Thornpaw glanced at Trinity "Yeah." he said shortly, not feeling the need to elaborate. He wasn't in the best of moods, and when he wasn't in a good mood, he was grumpy, and when he was grumpy he didn't feel like speaking much.
